This whole time i have been using the add a mod and install buttons of fomm and hping for the best XD for the most part, has worked.

There is barely any difference between using file manager and manual install, you're doing the same thing. Not necessarily. Manually installing can sometimes work over FOMM because the files won't be loose or not installed properly.
