The running time's too long and the humor's too broad, but the story takes some fascinating turns. A man finds himself deep in debt and is coerced to board a ship that hosts a risky gambling party. It's not perfect, but big bold swings like this never are - I'd take a messy, but genuinely innovative feature like this any day over the parade of generic chinese blockbusters.
